What Happen To Heather Harmon Memory Foam Mattresses - The Science of Good Sleep

Memory foam came about in the early 70's when NASA funded a development project intended to create a substance that could help ease the discomfort astronauts felt during lift-off. Nasa's scientists were trying to make a type of foam cushioning that would offer soft support to the body and would also keep its shape. And so, visco elastic memory foam was born. The advantages of the foam were that it could adapt rapidly to body movements and keep an equal weight distribution across the foam surface. In 1992, the very first consumer memory foam beds were brought to market by TempurPedic.

A visco elastic foam mattress is not what you would label as a \er, so if one of you moves in the course of the night, it will not awaken and disturb the other. It is of course a lot easier to get good sleep if you are not bothered by unwelcome disturbances.

It's important to note that good quality memory foam beds won't require a box-spring under them for additional support. Though you may well want one to raise the height of the mattress, a quality memory foam bed will provide you with all the support you need on any even surface.
